AMYC is the Australian Methodist Youth Camp that occurs annually, hosted by different churches in

different states every year. In 2019, AMYC will be hosted by Trinity Church in Melbourne, Victoria.

Our theme for 2019 is “Arise – Dry Bones to Life”. It is based on the Bible passage of Ezekiel 37:1-14

where we read about a valley of dry bones – desolate, dried up and hopeless. However a prophecy is

given, that flesh and skin will cover these bones and the Lord would make breath enter them and

the bones would come to life. It is a message about the restoration of the Lord’s people. And it is this

message of hope, revival and restoration that forms the theme of our camp.

We would love to see you at this year’s AMYC as we explore the Bible about this together.

All and everyone are welcome!

SEAN KONG SEAN KONG

I’m currently serving as the assistant minister and the English pastor of Sherwood Methodist Church. I’ve been serving there since 2014. I’ve been married to Jane, my wife, for 10 years and we have a 3 year old son (Yohan) and a baby daughter (Eugenie, 5 months) together.

I grew up in a Christian family, and for 19 years I was a nominal Christian who secretly doubted Jesus, until God confronted my false Christianity in my first year of Uni, and opened my eyes to see my need for Jesus. I originally studied filmmaking and was aiming to work in the film industry, but I gradually discerned God’s calling me into full-time ministry. In 2014 I graduated with an MDiv from Brisbane School of Theology.

I still enjoy watching movies today, and also spending time with my family. I would love to do more traveling with them when my kids are a bit older.

Make sure you book your flights to Melbourne ahead of time! We recommend arriving before

Sunday 1 December.

If you plan to arrive on Sunday morning, we recommend that you choose a flight that arrives in

Melbourne by 7am. This is so that you have time to get to the opening ceremony on the day.

Keep an eye out on the AMYC 2019 Facebook and Instagram pages as we will share airfare deals as they pop up.

SKYSCANNER

To get around Melbourne, you will need a Myki card. Myki is Melbourne’s ticket to travel on our

trains, trams and buses. It is a plastic smartcard with stored value which can be topped up and

re-used again. Whenever you hop on and off a train, tram or bus, you just need to touch on and touch

off.

You can purchase a Myki card at a number of places including at train station counters, Myki top up

machines, all 7-Elevens and certain retailers (keep an eye out for the official Myki sign outside the store). You can also purchase a Myki card online. For Android OS users, you can use your Google Pay account to purchase a Myki, then use your phone to touch on and off.
